Failure to pronounce the first words such
as papa or mama by your child even after he attains the age
of one year indicates a speech disorder. Every child
develops at a different rate, but most go through the same
stages. By seven months to one year, a child usually starts
uttering simple words. Sometimes a child accomplishes this
milestone a little late. This may not necessarily imply a
developmental delay or speech disorder. However, extreme
delay in speech learning may create a permanent problem in
your child. |
